D.I.G. Survey Results The Dragon Involvement Group survey was administered in March. District-wide there were 717 returned surveys. The results of those surveys showed the following strengths and challenges. STRENGTHS 1. Teachers have expectations for students to learn 2. Parents know what behavior is expected at school 3. Parents feel it is important for their child to obey the classroom and school rules 4. Parents feel that what their child is learning at school is important. CHALLENGES 1. District Communication (such as when PTO meetings are held) 2. Teachers/staff being excited about their work. 3. Providing ideas about how to help parents do their best 4. Challenging all children at all levels in their schoolwork. The following are some of the staff members who were highlighted by parents in the comment portion of the survey for a job well done: Mrs. Hutchins – Plymouth Miss Sanchez- Kindergarten, T.J. Mrs. Evanson- McKinsey Principal. Autistic Unit – Saybrook Route 28 Bus Driver (Saybrook) Miss Ashley Preschool Miss Mystica Preschool Miss Crystal Preschool Miss Lashell- Preschool Ms. Rau- 4th Grade L.I. The comments have been given to each building Principal. NEXT STEPS 1. The district is involved in the Ohio Improvement process. Goals must be made at both the district and building level in regards to academic and climate. The results of this survey will be utilized to assist in addressing these goals. 2. The D.I.G. group will be assisting in improving communication and parent feedback and involvement through the district website, channel 21, and the district Scholarship and Pride newsletters and School Connect service. In addition, the district has created a Parent Institute program for parents, a Community and Civic Engagement team, and Key Communicators Club that will also assist in the challenges of our district. 3. The D.I.G. group will begin recruiting parents at each building in an effort to build parent involvement, in assisting with communicating ideas, concerns, and suggestions toward the new elementaries.
