Leveled Books List from A- I (click on the underlined words to go to those links) I have compiled a list of books for levels A - I. The books on my list can be found at the library. Some of these books can also be found at scholastic.com. You can search the Ashtabula County Library Catalog at this website: http://www.ashtabula.lib.oh.us/ Just type in the book and or author. This will allow you to see if the books you want are checked in. Also, I will try to add more leveled books for A, B, C in the next few weeks. When choosing a book for your child to read keep the following things in mind: 1) Your child's reading level: If your child reads at level B remember these are books that they will need a little help to read, usually just a few reminders of how to figure out the words they don't know. This means that books that are level A are good fluency practice for your child. It's best to give them a few of each, so that they build their confidence with the lower level book. Once Level B books seem easy for your child then you can let them try a level C book, but remember this is a book they will need more help with when they read. First always give them ways to figure out the word and if after a try or two it doesn't help just tell them the word. 2) Your child's reading interest: sometimes your child may be interested in reading books that are too hard for them but they are very interested in the topic. This can work too, just make a deal with your child that they will read the parts the can and try some harder words and then you can just tell them the other words. Remember, if the word can be figured out from sounding out or pictures clues let your child try, if not just tell them the word. Students often work harder to read a book that is too hard for them, when it is a topic that interests them. 3) Check out how to help my child read(click here) section for some reading strategies for your child.
