Art Students Selected to Submit Art to Ohio Civil Rights Commission 2022 Contest

Congratulations to three Lakeside High School Art Students
Kian Watkins, Shelbie Peterson, and Guiliano Kurtulaj have been selected to have their work submitted to the Ohio Civil Rights Commission 2022 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Art, Essay, & Multimedia Contest.
Each participant creatively responded to the following question: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. believed that we must stand up for the rights of all people, not just our own. Describe an event of injustice that you have seen or experienced and explain what you did or would do to fight against that injustice like Dr. King?
Portraits of Civil Rights Activists were assigned with a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.quote from his essay, “Letter From a Birmingham Jail.”
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects on directly, affects all indirectly."
Anzietta DiPierro is the Art Teacher for Lakeside High School.

Return to In Person Learning January, 18th 2022

Good Evening Ashtabula Families,

This is Dr. Kelly Washington, Director of School Improvement with a few announcements.

In observance of Martin Luther King, school will not be in session on Monday, January 17th. The district will be closed on Monday.

Next, we are definitely concerned about the well being of all of you and our scholars. There is much planning and discussions when decisions are made. It has been decided all of our scholars will be back for in person learning on Tuesday January 18th. Thank you for your flexibility and understanding during these past two weeks. We are all very excited to see our scholars on Tuesday morning.

Finally, the professional development that was scheduled on Tuesday, January 18th for Erie Intermediate and Wednesday, January 19th for Lakeside High School has been canceled. Scholars are to report to their schools where their teachers and principals will be waiting for them.

Thank you for sharing your scholars with us. We look forward to having them back in the building. Wishing each of you a peaceful and blessed evening.

Please remain on the line to listen to this message in Spanish. Thank you
