M.L.K., Jr. Oratorical Contest

The Kiwanis Club of Ashtabula and the Ashtabula County District Library Foundation proudly present the 3rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (M.L.K., Jr.) Oratorical Contest on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Ashtabula County District Library, 4335 Park Ave. Ashtabula. The evening events begin at 6:00 pm and will conclude by 9:00 pm.
The contest, which recognizes the legacy of Dr. King, as well as other influential people in the civil rights movement, is open to students in grades nine (9) through 12. Faculty will select three (3) finalists each from Saint John School, Edgewood High School, Lakeside High School and Grand River Academy to participate.
Contest Rules:
1. Each student will be required to present a three (3) minute speech reflecting the impact of Dr. King’s 

2. The speech must be a personal interpretation and;

3. Each finalist will complete a registration/information form to the Kiwanis Club of Ashtabula prior to
   January 18, 2020. (Attached)

Contest Judging:

The contest audience will judge the presentations on the 19th based upon Toastmasters International judging platform

Contest Awards:

1st Place $500
2nd Place $300
3rd Place $150

Individual tickets for this public and high-profile event are $25.00. All proceeds will be used to support worthy programs such as Reading is Fundamental (RIF) and student scholarships. For tickets please contact Jessica Wiser at 440-992-1201 or jessica.wiser@aacs.net.
