Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year.
The PTO is excited about all of the changes this year!
We also have many changes to our board.
President - Lauren Novak
“I have a daughter in the district and I also teach first grade at Huron Primary. As a teacher, I get to see first hand the joy that the kids get from things like santa shop, field trips, and book fair. I am very excited to be a part of PTO this year and I look forward to working with all of you.”
Vice President - Heather Soutar
“I am currently taking classes for my degree in Early Childhood Education. Volunteering in the Head Start program while my son was enrolled made me realize this was what I wanted to do in life. I enjoy working with the kids and organizing their events as part of the PTO. Along with being in school, I also enjoy crafting, reading and going on adventures with my son.”
Vice President - Molly Lynch
“I began volunteering because I was ‘volun-told, but in truth, I like to know how my kids are doing in school. It helps me to get to know the teachers and opens up an extra line of communication. I have 2 sons, 1 at Huron and 1 at Superior. I also enjoy arts and crafts, scrapbooking, camping, gardening and reading to my kiddos.”
Treasurer - Rebecca Hayes
“I have 3 children in the district and also work in the cafeteria at Michigan Primary. This is my 4th year with the pto and I love seeing the joy from what we do on the kids' faces.”
Treasurer - Christine Atkins
“I volunteer because it's something I have always loved to do I believe everyone has a purpose. I love helping others and it also gives me an opportunity to be close to our little one and get to know some of the people she interacts with on a daily basis. It gives me an opportunity to use many of my skills and abilities to be of service to others.”
Secretary - Shianna Bahamundi
“I am a stay at home mom, with 2 boys, one who will be in first grade. He gets so excited when he sees me helping in his school. I like being a part of something that I can help make decisions and know that I can bring in ideas or be an extra person to help get a job done. The friendships I have made are something I will carry with me for years to come. I really like that I get to know some of the School staff on a different level, and it really makes you see and appreciate how hard they work on a daily basis. One of the best parts, are getting familiar with some of the faces of the students each time you volunteer, seeing their little smiles and waves when they recognize that I served ice cream to them, gave them extra marshmallows in their hot chocolate, helped pick out a book at Book Fair, or let them get dripping wet with the sponge and water race on a very hot field day!”
Secretary - Valerie Harchalk
“I am a mom of four Little Dragons on the elementary campus, as well as a second grade teacher at Ontario primary. As a parent and teacher I get to see both sides of how the PTO works. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful parents, teachers, and administration that work together to give the best to our kids. I am blessed to be able to teach the wonderful children in our district, as well as to be a mom and experience the family side of it as well.”
We hope to meet you soon and also hope that you will join us
in making this the best year ever!
